The Deadliest Tag
From Adam the Alien Productions Wiki
The Deadliest Tag is a video novel created by Adam J. Manley for the Vlogtag YouTube channel. The fictional universe it takes place in has been expanded on by other Vlogtag members.
The first chapter, simply called The Deadliest Tag, was intended to be a stand-alone video. While Manley intended to make more noir videos, he had not intended to further the continuity of the first video at all.
This changed, however, when he saw the Vlogtag video for 31 October, 2010, Sunday's ExtravaganSAW. He was impressed by the quality of the production, and felt he had to match the quality with his next video. Manley had wanted to return to the noir format for some time, and felt that the feel of Sunday's ExtravaganSAW - in fact an homage to the Saw movie franchise - worked well as a prologue for a noir story. As such, it was rolled into a larger continuity, along with the original Deadliest Tag video.
The story was further expanded when, while planning her part of Chapter Two with Manley, Nikki decided to continue her character's story in her own Vlogtag video.

Characters
Warning! This section contains spoilers!
- The Unnamed Detective: A private detective living in Tacoma, Washington, the Unnamed Detective is the protagonist of Chapters One and Two. He is never given a proper name; instead, other characters refer to him only using different names for his profession. The detective is killed by Vikki at the end of Chapter Two. The Unnamed Detective is played by Adam J. Manley.
- Nikki: Operating under the alias of Vlogtag, it is indicated that Nikki has hired the Unnamed Detective at least once a week. According to Chapter One, her request is always the same: "I need you to make me a video." It is unknown whether this is meant literally (private detectives are often hired to gather incriminating photos or video in a variety of cases), or whether "make me a video" is a kind of slang or code for another activity entirely. Nikki is killed by the Unnamed Detective at the end of Chapter One. Nikki is played by and based on Vlogtag's co-creator, Nikki.
- Tharg: A powerful crimelord, little is known of Tharg. He is always seen wearing a hooded cloak, and his face is never seen. He speaks with a deep voice that indicates he may not be human. Tharg has a reputation for ruthlessness, but his motives are unknown: in Chapter One, Tharg orders the assassination of Nikki, but it is indicated in Chapter Two that he is business partners with Nikki's sister, Vikki. Tharg is played by Adam J. Manley, and was originally created for a solo series called Your Dread Lord Tharg.
- Helen Abbott: One of the notorious Sundays, Helen is kidnapped, possibly by minions of Tharg, in the prologue to Chapter Two, "Sunday's ExtravaganSAW". Helen is played by and based on the Vlogtag member of the same name.
- The Sundays: The Sundays are a couple who, together, control the East Side as part of the British Mafia. The Sundays are a pastiche of Helen and James, Vlogtag's Sunday vloggers.
- Bobby Jones: A reporter and an ally of the Unnamed Detective, Bobby works for the Green Brothers. It is stated that his "job to know things," however it is unknown if this refers to his status as a reporter, or to less official work. Bobby is played by and based on the Vlogtag member of the same name.
- The Green Brothers: The Green Brothers are media moguls with known roots in the criminal world. Whether they have moved beyond their past or not is unclear. The Green brothers are named for and very loosely based on YouTube's Vlogbrothers. John and Hank Green appear as The Green Brothers via archive footage from Vidcon.
- Jimmy: Jimmy is an informant, first appearing in Chapter Two. Stated as having worked "deep cover across the lake", it is implied that he worked as a secret agent in the United Kingdom ("across the lake" is a term sometimes used in the United States to refer to the United Kingdom, the "lake" being the Atlantic Ocean). His accent imitates Sean Connery, the first actor to play James Bond. Jimmy is played by Adam J. Manley.
- Melissa: An acquaintance of the Unnamed Detective "from better days," Melissa helps the detective flee from Madam V's after his confrontation with Tharg. She is killed by Vikki at the end of Chapter Two. Melissa is played by the vlogger of the same name.
- Vikki: Also known as Madame V, Vikki is Nikki's twin sister. She runs a brothel with Tharg, and is apparently unaware of Tharg's involvement in her sister's death, as she only targeted the Unnamed Detective while avenging her sister's death. Vikki's motives are unclear at this time: at times, she seems a cold-blooded killer, and other times a scared woman in over her head. She has a partner named "B" and seems to be operating under the orders of a woman known as "The Boss". Vikki is played by Nikki, who also created the character, separate from The Deadliest Tag stories.
- B: First appearing in Vikki's Story, all that is known about B is that she is Vikki's partner and she has a fondness for Selena Gomez. B is played by Beth.
- The Boss: The Boss, who first appeared in Vikki's Story, is the woman pulling Vikki's strings. Nothing is known, yet, about her motives or who she is. The Boss is played by Mary Kate.
- Tharg's Thugs: Two minions of Tharg, the thugs appeared in Chapter One, where they kidnapped the Unnamed Detective to bring him to their boss. The thugs are played by James and Trevor.
- Michael Buckley: Though mentioned by the Unnamed Detective and Melissa in Chapters One and Two, nothing concrete is known about Michael Buckley. It is implied that he is part of the criminal element, and possibly the only person tough enough to face off against Tharg in person. Michael Buckley is named for and jokingly based on YouTube's What The Buck.
- Helen's Kidnapper: Appearing in Sunday's ExtravaganSAW, Helen's kidnapper is a pastiche of the Jigsaw Killer from the Saw movie franchise. Nothing is known about this entity, though the informant Jimmy believes he is "one of Tharg's cronies." His desire seems to be for the Vlogtag channel to appreciate its good fortune more. How the Vlogtag channel exists within the universe of The Deadliest Tag has yet to be addressed, and may never, as Sunday's ExtravaganSAW was not originally part of the video novel, instead being retconned into continuity at the beginning of Chapter Two.
